Hi there. My name is Kim Rankin and I would like to introduce myself as one of your AlphaNet Coordinators.
I’m Midwest raised and educated but Texas is the place I now call home. Married to my college football sweetheart, Dan, we raised two remarkable kids. However, the best part of all that parenting hard work has finally paid off and I’m officially wrapped around the finger of a tornado in tennis shoes who calls me Gigi.
I’ve been blessed with multiple careers throughout my lifetime, all of which I’ve loved. My early years were spent running down the headlines as a TV reporter and anchor. In my 40’s, I went back to school and became an RN – specializing in psych and hospice care. In my 50s, I changed my focus and practice to prevention and started a wellness business.
Little did I know, all this experience prepared me for what I didn’t know was coming. While it took years of knocking on doors to find out why showering had become an Olympic sport, it led me to my Alpha1 ZZ diagnosis during the pandemic. I am the first in the family to be diagnosed, and I was figuring out how to navigate this unfamiliar territory during a new virus, masks, and lockdowns. AlphaNet was instrumental in helping me find my new normal and hope again. I’m privileged to be able to help you do the same. Alphas Serving Alphas……we are a strong and supportive group!
In my downtime, you’ll find me on my Peloton – cycling and strength training. I also tend to be happiest with multiple outdoor projects going at once – from chain sawing trees to build coyote fences, to gardening and growing my gorgeous zinnias to surprise friends and area businesses with “just because” fresh flowers. I’ve continued to play an active role in hospice, but now as a volunteer to support patients and families.
I look forward to getting to know you and helping to support you living a strong and healthy life as an Alpha.
