Pat MacInnes

Hi, my name is Pat MacInnes and I want to introduce myself. I live with my husband in Monroe, New York and have two children and two grandchildren. I was in my late thirties and different doctors told me I had asthma and allergies. One day while sitting in a doctor’s office, my husband picked up a copy of the AMA Journal and read about a disease called Alpha-1. Even with that information I was still not really getting proper treatment, so I went to a pulmonologist and finally was officially diagnosed in 1991. I received a lung transplant on January 2, 2007.

Nothing in my past has been like the career I have now – working with AlphaNet has been a wonderful experience. I am busy all the time. Swimming and walking are important parts of my daily life. But I also find quiet time to sew, read and be with my grandsons. My religion is extremely important to me and I work at having a good spiritual attitude.

The reason why all of us who are AlphaNet Coordinators work so hard is because the Alpha community is a family. I am happy to do it because everyone, AlphaNet Coordinators, management staff, and volunteers give 100%. Having Alphas help other Alphas was the greatest idea anyone ever had.
